Attinella preseason

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake on Wednesday sent GK Jeff Attinella on a short-term loan to the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers of the second-division North American Soccer League (NASL).

Signed by Real Salt Lake in December 2012, the 24-year-old Attinella has not appeared in any of RSL’s first-team matches this year. The third-year pro has seen action in the Reserve League, allowing just one goal in 135 minutes of action across three games.

Attinella spent the first two years of his professional career in NASL with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, which he helped lead to the 2012 NASL title. The Clearwater, Fla. native is the second RSL player to be sent on loan to a NASL side in the last 10 days; MF Enzo Martinez was sent on-loan to the Carolina RailHawks on April 30.

Currently in seventh place in the NASL, the Strikers have three remaining league games in May.

RSL still has three goalkeepers on its active roster in Nick Rimando, Josh Saunders and Lalo Fernandez.

Real Salt Lake will return to action on Wednesday, when it will take on the New England Revolution at 6:00 p.m. MT at Gillette Stadium. The Claret-and-Cobalt will play again on Saturday, traveling north of the border to take on the Montreal Impact at 12:00 p.m. MT at Stade Saputo. Both Wednesday’s and Saturday’s games will be broadcast live on CW30, ESPN700 AM and 102.3 La Gran D FM/1600AM.
