Saborio expected to miss "several weeks" due to injury

Alvaro Saborio v. Colorado Rapids - 04.06.13

SANDY, Utah - Real Salt Lake Head Coach Jason Kreis revealed on Tuesday that leading scorer Alvaro Saborio will miss “several weeks” due to a quad injury.

Saborio missed RSL’s 2-0 loss to LA on Saturday due to the injury, which he suffered while performing shooting drills during Friday’s training session. The Costa Rican international was initially in the starting lineup for Saturday’s match before being taken out of the 18 as a late scratch.

Unfortunately, Saborio isn’t the only RSL forward dealing with an injury. Claret-and-Cobalt attackers Robbie Findley and Olmes Garcia also missed training on Tuesday, though Kreis is hopeful that both will be available for this Saturday’s home game against Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Findley was also injured during Friday’s training session, hyperextending his knee in the same shooting drill that Saborio was injured in. He was also a late scratch from the 18 ahead of Saturday’s loss to LA. Garcia suffered an adductor strain on Saturday. He played all 90 minutes in the Claret-and-Cobalt’s loss to LA.
