MLS suspends Mansally, fines Saborio

SANDY, Utah – Major League Soccer announced on Thursday that it has sanctioned Real Salt Lake DF Abdoulie Mansally and FW Alvaro Saborio for actions in the Claret-and-Cobalt’s 1-0 loss at D.C. on March 9.


The league has suspended Mansally for one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for violent conduct during the second half of RSL’s loss in the nation’s capital. The Disciplinary Committee determined that Mansally used his head to strike United MF Perry Kitchen in the 61st minute.


Mansally is suspended for RSL’s home opener at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday against Rocky Mountain Cup Presented by Mark Miller Subaru rival Colorado Rapids. Saturday’s match will kick off at 4 p.m. MT.


MLS has fined Saborio an undisclosed amount for aggravated dissent toward the referee in the 93rd minute of the D.C. match. Saborio will be available for selection on Saturday. He will miss RSL’s March 23 match at FC Dallas while with the Costa Rican national team for its March 22 and March 26 World Cup qualifiers at the U.S. and against Honduras.
