RSL advances to Desert Diamond Cup Final

Kwame, Khari v. NE

TUCSON, Ariz. - Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night qualified for Saturday's FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup Final, using a dramatic, come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the New England Revolution and a New York loss to Seattle to edge into the DDC Final against Sounders FC.

The Claret-and-Cobalt finished in second-place in the Group Stage of the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup with four points, leaving them five points behind first-place Seattle, one point ahead of third-place New England and three points ahead of last-place New York. RSL had to wait until after Wednesday's late game to see if it had qualified for the DDC Final, as New York could have leapfrogged the Utah side had the Red Bulls beaten Seattle by a three-goal margin.

Saturday's RSL-Seattle Desert Diamond Cup Final will kick off at 6:00 p.m. MT at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium. The match will be shown live on NBC Sports Network.

This is the first time that the Claret-and-Cobalt has qualified for the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup Final. RSL played in the tournament's third-place game last year, beating New York 1-0 to take home the consolation prize.
