RSL History v. Seattle Sounders

On Saturday, Real Salt Lake returns to the home of its greatest glory, visiting Seattle Sounders FC at what is now Century Link Field, home of RSL’s MLS Cup 2009 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy. A year ago, both teams attained 2-1 wins on the road in regular-season meetings - Seattle Sounders on May 28 at Rio Tinto, and RSL on September 10, in a game marred by first-half red cards to Tony Beltran and Jhon Kennedy Hurtado. Seattle then won 2-0 against RSL in the home leg of the 2011 MLS Western Conference Semifinals, falling a goal shy of forcing overtime due to RSL's 3-0 dominance in the first leg.

All-time, RSL is 3-4-2 against Seattle, including a perfectly even 2-2-2 in regular-season play. Each team has won a playoff game against the other, with only the 2009 MLS play-in victory by Seattle in a preliminary round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tipping the scales.
