Local Radio Personalities to Judge RSL's National Anthem Auditions Feb. 9&10

FIVE LOCAL RADIO PERSONALITIES TO JUDGE NEXT WEEKEND’S RSL NATIONAL ANTHEM AUDITIONS
“Friends of RSL” from Four Stations to Evaluate Hopefuls at Third Annual “Star-Spangled Banner” and “O Canada” Tryouts Feb. 9 & 10

SANDY, Utah (Saturday, February 4, 2012)Real Salt Lake has secured the help of a handful of local radio personalities to assist in the judging at next weekend’sauditions for “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “O Canada” performers. The third annual tryout for national anthem singers will take place next Friday, February 10 (3:00-6:00 p.m. MT) and Saturday, February 11 (10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) in the Rio Tinto Stadium Budweiser Club Real restaurant (2nd floor).


“Friends of RSL” from four of Utah’s most popular music stations will share judging duties during next weekend’s evaluations, including:


  • Erin Collard – co-host of B98.7’s “Todd & Erin in the Morning”
  • DJ Jared – morning drive host at Mix 107.9
  • Mick & Allen – co-hosts of “The Freak Show,” afternoons on KBER 101
  • DJ Jimmy Chunga – co-host of 101.9 The End’s “Chunga & Tysen”


The anthem tryouts are open to all area singers and musicians, allowing Real Salt Lake fans the unique chance to be a valuable part of the best gameday atmosphere in Utah sports. Real Salt Lake is looking to fill performance spots for all 17 of its MLS regular season contests plus potential Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup contests and international exhibitions to be hosted at Rio Tinto Stadium, where RSL has collected a dominating 40-6-15 record in official competitions since opening the doors in October 2008. Participants will be judged on a cappella and acoustic instrumental renditions only, as no electric or amplified instruments can be utilized for gameday performances. In addition, any tryout participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the audition.


Those interested in auditioning will be asked to complete a registration form, which is available online at www.RealSaltLake.com/Anthem. Please note that, unlike in past years, participants will not be able to “walk-in” to the audition; individuals and groups must be registered with a verified tryout time in order to participate.
