RSL TO HOST ANNUAL NATIONAL ANTHEM AUDITIONS FEBRUARY 10 & 11
Claret-and-Cobalt Again Seeking Local Talent for Third Annual “Star-Spangled Banner” and “O Canada” Tryouts
SANDY, Utah (Friday, January 20, 2012) – Everyone knows the game can’t start until the anthem has been sung, which is why Real Salt Lake is asking Claret-and-Cobalt fans far and wide to help get things going in 2012 at its annual auditions for “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “O Canada” performers. The third annual tryout for national anthem singers will take place across the weekend of Friday, February 10 (3:00-6:00 p.m. MT) and Saturday, February 11 (10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) in the Rio Tinto Stadium Budweiser Club Real restaurant (2nd floor).
The anthem tryouts are open to all area singers and musicians, allowing Real Salt Lake fans the unique chance to be a valuable part of the best gameday atmosphere in Utah sports. Real Salt Lake is looking to fill performance spots for all 17 of its MLS regular season contests plus potential Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup contests and international exhibitions to be hosted at Rio Tinto Stadium, where RSL has collected a dominating 40-6-15 record in official competitions since opening the doors in October 2008. Participants will be judged on a cappella and acoustic instrumental renditions only, as no electric or amplified instruments can be utilized for gameday performances. In addition, any tryout participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the audition.
During the two days of auditions, members of the Real Salt Lake Gameday Operations staff will assess the aspiring talents alongside special guest judges each day, which will be announced on the Real Salt Lake website, Facebook fan page, and Twitter feed (@RealSaltLake) in the days leading up to the auditions.
Those interested in auditioning will be asked to complete a registration form, which is available online at www.RealSaltLake.com/Anthem. Please note that, unlike in past years, participants will not be able to “walk-in” to the audition; individuals and groups must be registered with a verified tryout time in order to participate.
Real Salt Lake will begin its 2012 slate at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, March 17, when the Utah side welcomes the New York Red Bulls – featuring legendary striker Thierry Henry – to Sandy for a 7:00 p.m. MT kickoff.
