Claret-and-Cobalt Expected to Kick off Eighth Season of MLS Play Weekend Prior during First Kick Presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods
SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, November 29, 2011) – In conjunction with Major League Soccer, Real Salt Lake has announced that the Utah side will open its 17-game regular season home schedule for the 2012 season at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, March 17.
As of now, the only way fans of the Claret-and-Cobalt can secure their spots for the March 17th opening day at Rio Tinto Stadium is by joining “The Pride” and becoming a 2012 Season Ticket Holder. For more information on 2012 RSL Season Ticket options at Rio Tinto Stadium, fans can head online to the “TICKETS” section of www.RealSaltLake.com or call 801-727-2700.
Real Salt Lake is expected to open its eighth MLS season the weekend prior as a part of First Kick presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods. Major League Soccer’s 17th campaign will open with six matches on Saturday, March 10, to be followed by a pair of Sunday contests and a Monday night feature.
The Montreal Impact’s addition as MLS’ 19th club next season means that one squad will be forced to sit out of the First Kick festivities. Times, opponents, and national broadcast information for each team’s home opener will be included in the entire regular season schedule, which will be announced upon its completion in the coming weeks.
All but one MLS club will play in front of their home fans by the end of Week 3 of the 2012 regular season. The Houston Dynamo look forward to their May 12 debut in a sparkling new downtown stadium built specifically for soccer. The Montreal Impact’s first home game in MLS will be played at Olympic Stadium on March 17. The newly-renovated Stade Saputo is scheduled to open in June.
