Details for Saturday’s Post-game Fireworks Extravaganza, Presented by Les Olson Company

Saturday’s Post-game Fireworks Celebration, presented by Les Olson Company, will begin approximately 20 minutes after the game’s final whistle. In accordance with local safety guidelines regarding the display's firing zone, Rio Tinto Stadium officials will close the north side of the Stadium Way ring road beginning in the 80th minute of the match and will re-open the road 10 minutes following the fireworks show.

Due to this closure affecting the northwest Spanish staircase entrance, fans are encouraged to remain in the stadium briefly following the fireworks display. Fans with vehicles parked in the Stadium’s North lots (including 9000 South and Monroe Way) will not be able to access the pedestrian bridge from the 80th minute until the 10-minute window has expired.  All remaining entrances/exits will not be impacted by this temporary road closure.

Kevin Bardsley to Be Honored as Saturday’s RSL/American Express “Hero Among Us”

Real Salt Lake and American Express are proud to recognize Kevin Bardsley of Elk Ridge, Utah, as Saturday’s recipient of the “Heroes Among Us” honor.  It was 2004 when 12-year-old Garrett Bardsley took a wrong turn and was lost in the Uinta Mountains, but even after 11 days of tireless searching Garrett was never found.  Ever since that day, his father, Kevin, has been determined to prevent similar tragedies from happening to other families, and, to that end, he established the Garrett Bardsley Foundation in honor of his son.

The foundation trains volunteers to be ready at a moments notice to coordinate and conduct wilderness search and rescue expeditions throughout Utah. When another boy was lost in the Uinta Mountains in 2005, Kevin was ready to lead the search efforts.  The boy was indeed found, and the Garrett Bardsley Foundation continues to spearhead similar efforts six years later in the memory of Kevin’s lost son so that other families will not have to endure this sense of great loss. The foundation has also been involved with humanitarian work in South America, providing funding and volunteers to help build several schools in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador and Peru.

For turning his heartbreak into help, Real Salt Lake and American Express are proud to recognize Kevin Bardsley as Saturday’s “Hero Among Us.” For more information on the Garrett Bardsley Foundation, please visit www.findgarrett.org.
