RSL Partnering with Les Olson Company to "Shutout Hunger" in Utah

Donations to be Accepted through July 23rd Pioneer Day Celebration Contest vs. San Jose;
All Donors Will Receive a $5 off Coupon for RSL’s July 30 Match vs. Columbus

SANDY, Utah (Monday, July 11, 2011)Real Salt Lake works hard to shutout their opponents, and now the Claret-and-Cobalt will team up to “Shutout Hunger” as they partner with Les Olson Company and the Utah Food Bank to collect donations to help end hunger in the Beehive State.


Beginning today,donations in the form of non-perishable or canned food itemsand financial gifts will be accepted at Rio Tinto Stadium, the Utah Food Bank, and all Les Olson Company offices, with those who donate receiving a coupon for $5 off a ticket to attend Real Salt Lake’s contest against the Columbus Crew on Saturday, July 30. Fans will receive one coupon for the RSL-Columbus match per item donated, with coupons being limited to four per donation (coupons cannot be combined to add up to the price of a full ticket). In addition, fans can also make their donations online here at the Utah Food Bank website.


“Real Salt Lake is proud to partner with Les Olson Company to promote a worthy cause such as the Utah Food Bank, especially during a night which always proves to be one of the most special on the RSL calendar every season,” said Real Salt Lake President Bill Manning. “Our fans are used to seeing shutouts from RSL on the field, and we expect them to step up just as big off the field as we look to help ‘Shutout Hunger’ at Rio Tinto Stadium on Pioneer Day Weekend.”


Donations will be collected through Saturday, July 23, when Real Salt Lake will take on the San Jose Earthquakes at Rio Tinto Stadium. Kickoff for RSL’s annual Pioneer Day Celebration match is set for 8:00 p.m. MT, with the contest and post-game fireworks display to be presented by Les Olson Company. Fans can bring their donations on game day to the Les Olson Company/Utah Food Bank booth atCarnival Real, which will open on the stadium’s East Lawn at 6:00 p.m. MT.

Fans that make donations on game day will not only receive the $5 off coupon for the following weekend’s match against the Crew, but will also be entered into a drawing to win a 42” flat screen TV. Donations during the two-week drive will be calculated during the first half of the match, with Real Salt Lake and Les Olson Company presenting the Utah Food Bank with the total estimated pounds of food collected during a halftime ceremony.
