Timpanogos H.S.’s Lehonti Ramos to Be Honored as Saturday’s RSL/American Express “Hero Among Us”

Real Salt Lake and American Express are proud to recognize Timpanogos High School student Lehonti Ramos as the recipient of the “Heroes Among Us” honor for Saturday’s match against D.C. United. Described as a hard-working student and exemplary friend, Lehonti lived in Mexico and spoke only Spanish until his recent move to the Beehive State. Despite having the barrier of learning a new language, Ramos has flourished in the classroom, working twice as hard to first process the lessons into English before comprehending the content of the material presented in each class. The work has certainly paid off, as Lehonti, was recently included on the Timpanogos honor roll.

In addition to being a great scholar, young Mr. Ramos has gone out of his way to make other students feel at ease, including twice tackling more language barriers and learning bits and pieces of Korean and Russian in order to make a pair of new Timpanogos students feel more welcome in their new school. For his ability to excel in school and as a reward for his friendly and accommodating nature – all while still acclimating to his new home – Real Salt Lake and American Express gladly bestow the Heroes Among Us honor to Lehonti Ramos.

For more information on the Real Salt Lake/American Express “Heroes Among Us” program, including details on how to nominate candidates for the 2011 season and biographies of last season’s recipients, visit the “Heroes Among Us” page under the “Community” section of www.RealSaltLake.com.
