Home Contest vs. Philadelphia Union Changed to Sept. 3 to Accommodate CCL Final

In conjunction with Major League Soccer, Real Salt Lake and the Philadelphia Union today announced that their regular season meeting at Rio Tinto Stadium, originally scheduled for next Saturday, April 23, will now take place on Saturday, Sept. 3, the League fixture moving to accommodate Real Salt Lake’s appearance in the CONCACAF Champions League Finals against Mexican side Monterrey.


With the date change, all tickets that were issued for April 23 (including season tickets) ARE VALID for Sept. 3. RSL Season Ticket holders that cannot make the Sept. 3 date can exchange for one of the normal exchange dates on May 7, June 4, July 30, Sept. 17 or Sept. 28. For Pass of All Passes rain checks that were handed out prior to the March 26 match against Los Angeles, those will now be redeemable for either the May 7 or Sept. 3 contests.


On April 20 and 27, Real Salt Lake aims to become the first MLS club since 2000 to capture a regional club championship and be the first MLS club to participate in the prestigious, seven-team FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled for December in Japan. Real Salt Lake travels to face reigning Mexican League champion Monterrey next Wednesday, April 20 (8:00 p.m. MT on FOX Soccer and TeleFutura), in the first leg of the two-game, aggregate goals final, and then return home to Rio Tinto Stadium for the decisive second leg on April 27 (8:00 p.m. MT on FOX Soccer and TeleFutura).

Real Salt Lake will have Friday off before beginning preparations for the CONCACAF Champions League Finals with a training session at its XanGo Field facility in Lehi thisSaturday, April 16, from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. MT. Saturday’s practice will mark the final training session in Utah prior to the squad’s departure for Mexico on Sunday.

MF Luis Gil & FW Donny Toia to Represent RSL-Arizona Academy at Prestigious Dallas CUP XXXII

The RSL-Arizona Academy will get some added help from the RSL senior squad for its upcoming appearance in the 32nd annual Dallas Cup, as MF Luis Gil and FW Donny Toia will supplement the U-17/U-18 roster that will take part in the prestigious, 16-team Gordon Jago Super Group. Gil & Toia will join the RSL-Arizona Academy squad over the weekend and in time for this Sunday’s Bracket C opener against Mexican side Tigres, which will mark the “ceremonial opener” for the Super Group and be contested at the main stadium at Pizza Hut Park, the home of FC Dallas.


RSL-Arizona will have another stern test on Monday when they take on Brazilian side FC Corinthians Paulista, followed by the Bracket C closer on Wednesday against fellow MLS academy side Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Should RSL-Arizona finish atop Bracket C it will qualify for the Super Group semifinals on Friday, which will be followed by the championship match next Sunday, April 24. RSL-Arizona will also be represented as one of 24 teams in the U-16 age group bracket, which will also be contested between the next two Sundays.
