Arlo Tejada to Be Honored as Wednesday’s RSL/American Express “Hero Among Us”

Real Salt Lake and American Express are proud to recognize Arlo Tejada as the recipient of Wednesday night’s “Heroes Among Us” award, honoring everyday heroes across the State of Utah.

An active member of his community, in addition to co-owning Sheri Griffith Expeditions in Moab, Tejada is also a member of numerous boards including the America Outdoors Association, the Utah Guides and Outfitters Association, and the Moab Travel Council. Going the extra mile for others is nothing new for the busy Tejada, who has previously offered free rafting trips to local organizations, given paid sick leave to employees, helped a long time employee with the purchase of her home and assisted raising money for cancer research.

The latter endeavor would strike close to home for Tejada, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in June of 2010. After six months of treatment Tejada soon learned that he was still not cancer free, forcing him to begin the process of a bone marrow transplant that will prevent him from maintaining his busy schedule of activities. For keeping a positive attitude throughout his personal trials and tribulations and his many selfless acts on behalf of others, Real Salt Lake and American Express are honored to reward Tejada as the latest “Hero Among Us” and host his family during Wednesday’s rivalry contest against the Rapids.

For more information on the Real Salt Lake/American Express “Heroes Among Us” program, including details on how to nominate candidates for the 2011 season and biographies of last season’s recipients, visit the “Heroes Among Us” page under the “Community” section of www.RealSaltLake.com.
