Findley gets all-clear to join Nottingham Forest

Robbie Findley, Real Salt Lake

NEW YORK – Former Real Salt Lake forward Robbie Findley has received the rubber stamp to join English Championship side Nottingham Forest after securing a visa and FIFA clearance to sign with the club.

Although Findley’s deal with the English club was hammered out in early January, it hinged on his ability to secure the final paperwork.

The 2010 World Cup striker has signed on for two-and-a-half years with the EPL promotion candidates after joining them on a free transfer when his contract expired with RSL.

Nottingham Forest are currently on a roll, winning their last four league matches and compiling a 10-2-3 record in their last 15. Their 46 points see them just two shy of an automatic promotion spot.

However, the arrival of the 25-year-old Findley will surely prove a boost with 20 matches left to play in the English second tier. Of the Top 10 clubs in the Championship, Nottingham Forest rank second-to-last in goals scored with 36. Three of their last four wins came by the minimal score of 1-0 and their highest-scoring striker has five goals.

The former RSL man has 11 caps with the US national team but has yet to score an international goal.
