“HOME OF THE UTES” PREPARING FOR HISTORIC TRIP TO NOTRE DAME


SALT LAKE CITY (Monday, November 8, 2010) – With more than 6,000 Utah Utes fans expected to make the trip to South Bend, Indiana, for Saturday’s Utah at Notre Dame college football game (pre-game coverage kicks off at 10:00 a.m. MT), ESPN 700 Sports Radio – as it does week-in, week-out – remains the Wasatch Front’s home for the most insightful local and national sports talk.


Today’s guests on a “Studs & Duds Monday” with Bill Riley & Spencer Checketts from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. include Brian Johnson, former Utes quarterback and current offensive assistant coach; Blaine Fowler, a former BYU football player and current analyst for The Mtn; and ESPN football analyst Trevor Matich. Also, Real Salt Lake defender Nat Borchers will wrap up the RSL season with a 4:40 p.m. appearance.
Last week’s guests included national experts Ivan Maisel (ESPN), Dan Wetzel (Yahoo Sports) and Tony Barnhart (Mr. College Football), as well as local luminaries Morgan Scalley, Kalani Sitake, Gordon Chiesa and Johnnie Bryant.

ESPN 700 Sports Radio is the where local head coaches give their exclusive take, as Real Salt Lake’s Jason Kreis (Tuesday) and Utah Football’s Kyle Whittingham (Thursday) join Bill Riley for weekly coach’s shows. RSL General Manager Garth Lagerwey’s weekly appearance each Wednesday will continue through the 2009 Champions’ offseason, while Utah Basketball’s Jim Boylen can also be heard each week throughout the Runnin’ Utes’ upcoming 2010-11 season, which officially begins Friday night at the Huntsman Center against Grand Canyon University (7:00 p.m. tip-off).


Every day at 5:10 p.m. MT, Bill & Spence host the “Big Interview of the Day,” with a prominent guest for an extended segment. Each Thursday, Real Salt Lake Founder and former Utah Jazz President Dave Checketts is featured, with a variety of both local and national newsmakers featured throughout the week.
Kicking off each day with ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike in the Morning” from 4:00-8:00 a.m. MT, ESPN 700’s day continues with “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” from 8:00-11:00 a.m. before “The Dan Patrick Show” runs from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Local “ESPN 700 SportsCenter” breaks are featured throughout the national programming, prior to “Bill & Spence” delving deep into the issues of the day from 2:00-6:00 p.m.
