Since Real Salt Lake is playing Toronto FC three times within a month, we know it might be a bit of an ask for “RSL Nation” to thank the “Reds” for anything these days, as we’re supposed to be fierce adversaries and all. But, that being said, we’re tipping our virtual cap to the Canadian champions this morning after they managed to bring a point back to Toronto via their 0-0 draw with Cruz Azul down in Mexico City last night. That means that Toronto has taken 4 out of a possible 6 points against the Mexican side in group play … now you tell us we shouldn’t be thanking them!

While yesterday’s draw bumped “los Cementeros” alone into Group A’s top spot on 7 points, it also left the door wide open for Real Salt Lake to take firm control of the group, which it would indeed do with a three-point result this evening against Arabe Unido in Panama City. The signs point to the distinct possibility of success, as it was just one week ago when Cruz Azul absolutely pummeled Arabe Unido 6-0 at the very Estadio Rommel Fernandez where RSL will be taking the field tonight.

Here’s the standings and schedule as they currently stand heading into tonight’s “linchpin” Group A match-up:
