RSL “Loan Sharks” Update – Gil Going to AC St. Louis

Real Salt Lake’s “loaned list” grew again this afternoon, as the squad has announced that midfielder Luis Gil has been sent to AC St. Louis of the USSF D-2 Pro League. Gil is en route to the Gateway City today and could be available for AC St. Louis as soon as tomorrow, when the first-year side will take on the Portland Timbers (and another RSL loanee, MF Alex Nimo) at the Anheuser-Busch Sports Park in suburban Fenton, MO.

Real Salt Lake is hoping to get the 16-year-old midfielder as much match experience as possible before St. Louis’ D-2 Pro League regular season slate comes to an end during the first week of October … and perhaps beyond should it qualify for postseason play. Per terms of the agreement, RSL will be able to recall the young playmaker at any time during the loan stint.

Gil becomes the third RSL player loaned out to AC St. Louis in recent weeks, as midfielder Collen Warner (2 games) and defender Chris Schuler (3 games) both saw action for the squad in matches over a three-week stretch in late July and early August.
