Jones, Kljestan among US call-ups vs. Brazil

Jermaine Jones once donned the German National Team jersey, but will play for the US against Brazil.

NEW YORK – US National Team fans will finally get to see Jermaine Jones in the red, white and blue after US manager Bob Bradley on Wednesday announced his 18-man roster to face Brazil on Tues., Aug. 10, at the New Meadowlands Stadium (8 p.m. ET).

Jones is the only new face in a squad which features 14 players who represented the US in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The other three players – Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht), Alejandro Bedoya (Örebro SK) and Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew) – were part of Bradley’s 30-man provisional roster leading up to the tournament.

Jones, a former German National Team player, was cleared to play for the USA last summer but a long-term shin injury prevented him from making his US debut.

Marshall joins Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA), Robbie Findley (Real Salt Lake) and the LA Galaxy duo of Edson Buddle and Landon Donovan as the MLS representatives on the roster.

More than 55,000 tickets have been sold for next Tuesday's match, which is the first game since the World Cup for both nations. The US will hope to exact some revenge for Brazil's three-goal comeback in the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup final, the last meeting between the two sides.

With very little clarity available about what manager and player pool might look like for the next World Cup cycle, the match could very well spell the last hurrah for Bradley and some of the more veteran players.
