Ned Grabavoy’s left-footed volley from outside the penalty box kick started Real Salt Lake’s 1-1 draw with Chivas USA last weekend, and was more than good enough to win the AT&T Goal of the Week for Matchday 17 (watch here).
Roughly 46 percent of the votes were cast for Grabavoy’s blast, which came after a RSL corner kick skipped off of the shoulder of Goats forward Justin Braun and out of the box. Grabavoy pounced for his second goal of the season, rocketing a shot past Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy.
Andy Iro’s left-footed spear off a Columbus free kick against Houston finished second (watch here), earning approximately 39 percent of the vote. Goals by Colorado’s Omar Cummings, FC Dallas’ Milton Rodriguez and Toronto FC’s Maicon Santos rounded out the nominees.
