SANDY, Utah (Thursday, May 27, 2010) –For the third consecutive year, Real Salt Lake and XINSURANCE are proud to host the annual “Guns and Hoses” Charity Soccer Match. This year’s contest pitting local police and fire department personnel against each other on the soccer field will take place this Saturday, May 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Tickets for this special community event are
available for $15, a price that also secures a seat at Saturday night’s
MLS match between Real Salt Lake and the Kansas City Wizards match at 7:00
p.m., also being presented by XINSURANCE. Guns and Hoses tickets for Saturday’s
“doubleheader” in Sandy can be purchased through the RSL Ticketing Department

participating in this year’s Guns and Hoses game, we are going to be able to
raise awareness for our Police Officers and Firefighters everywhere.”
As in the last two years, a portion of each
ticket sold for the Guns and Hoses match will be donated to a local charity,
with Shriners Hospital serving as the beneficiary of this year’s game.
In last year’s contest, the Guns won a hotly-contested match 4-3, but more
importantly, more than $1,800 was raised on behalf of the Police and
Firefighter Distress Fund.
For this year’s third edition of the charity
match, the “Guns” side will combine members of the Utah Highway Patrol, Unified
Police Department, Salt Lake County Sheriffs Department, and the Adult
Probation and Parole Department to take on the “Hoses” side, which will
feature members from the Salt Lake City Fire Department and Unified
Fire Authority. To carry over the spirit of the Guns and Hoses match, fire
and police response vehicles will be housed at Saturday’s Carnival Real
pre-game festival on the Stadium’s East lawn beginning at 5:00 p.m., when fans
will be able to take photos with the first responder vehicles and personally thank
these heroes of the local community.
