RSL Returns Home Looking to Extend Win Streak to Team-Record Five Games Saturday vs. Kansas City at Rio Tinto Stadium;

Wizards Last Visitor to Win in Utah as RSL Home Unbeaten Streak Stands at 14 Games

SANDY, Utah – After Sunday's late-game heroics by Argentine FW Fabian Espíndola led RSL to a 2-1 road win at Chivas USA and extended the team’s win streak to four games, Real Salt Lake (5-3-1, 16 pts., t-2nd West) and its red-hot form return home this Saturday, May 29, when the defending MLS Cup champs host the Kansas City Wizards (2-4-2, 8 pts., t-5th East).

Kickoff between Real Salt Lake – Major League Soccer’s highest-scoring team – and Kansas City (the league’s lowest-scoring road team) at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah is set for 7:00 p.m. MT, with fans able to secure tickets by calling (801) 727.2701 or by visiting or Saturday’s potentially history-making game will also see television coverage on KUSG 2.2 (Comcast 111/Dish Network 12) beginning at 7:00 p.m. MT. Fans can also follow the action live on Real Salt Lake’s radio partners: KALL 700 Sports (American First Credit Union Pre-match Report begins at 6:00 p.m.), ESPN Deportes 1600-AM, and Homero 106.1-FM.

Kansas City was the last MLS visitor to emerge with a win at Rio Tinto Stadium, FW Josh Wolff scoring twice in the Wizards’ 2-0 win on May 16, 2009. Real Salt Lake’s current 14-game home regular-season unbeaten run is the team’s longest ever (previous mark: 12 games, 3/29 – 9/29, 2008), eight games shy of matching the Columbus Crew’s MLS-record 22-game streak between June ’08 and Sept. ’09. Adding playoff and exhibition games, RSL's current unbeaten streak runs to 17 games in all competitions.

With a win, Real Salt Lake’s current streak would extend to five games, setting a new mark for its longest winning streak in League play in club history, a four-game run during July/August of 2006. On two previous occasions, RSL has posted five-game unbeaten streaks (2-0-3 in Sept./Oct. 2008; 2-0-3 in June/July 2009), but never capturing more than nine points in such a run.
