Reports: Beckerman close to re-signing

Beckerman, Findley

One of the offseason priorities for Real Salt Lake was to re-sign a couple of key players to the squad: Kyle Beckerman and Robbie Findley.

They wanted to avoid a situation like last year, when they made a midseason announcement that Yura Movsisyan would be leaving for Danish club Randers at the end of the year. By all accounts, that situation was not ideal for cohesiveness among the team.

It appears the club is at least halfway there in achieving its offseason goal.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported Tuesday that team captain Beckerman is on the verge of signing a four-year contract extension. An official announcement should come later this week.

Findley, however, is keeping his options open. There is no word of an imminent re-signing for the speedy forward, who is still in the mix for Bob Bradley's World Cup roster.

In other news, Real Salt Lake has received a conditional 2012 SuperDraft pick from Chivas USA for relinquishing discovery rights to Costa Rican defender Darío Delgado.

Finally, after winning the MLS Cup last fall, Real Salt Lake are set to receive their championship rings this Saturday in a pregame ceremony before their home opener against the Seattle Sounders.
