Real Salt Lake and American Express are proud to recognize the founders of the Angel’s Hands Foundation Mark and Roxann Kristensen and Sue and Steve Stauffer as the recipients of the “Hero Among Us” honor on June 1st 2013.
This group of individuals used their personal misfortune and experience to create an organization aimed at helping others. The Angels Hand Foundation is a Utah Nonprofit established to improve the quality of life for individuals living with rare medical conditions. This foundation assists families financially by paying off lingering medical bills and helping with other important items not covered by health insurance. They also provide monthly social activities for families whose children very often do not go in public due to their conditions or physical limitations. These outings allow families to feel normal again if only for a few hours. The Angels Hands Foundation continues to search for and find unique conditions where families need assistance so they can provide much needed emotional, moral and social support.

Real Salt Lake and American Express are proud to recognize Dean Bullock as the recipient of the “Hero Among Us” honor on June 8th 2013
On the morning of July 12th 2012 Dean Bullock, a marathon runner and 3 time iron man, started getting a headache. The headache was severe enough to concern his wife who convinced him to see a doctor. The prognosis was not good; Dean had a brain tumor. He underwent surgery to remove the tumor, followed by radiation and chemotherapy. Dean started running again just two months after surgery and in May he competed in a half ironman in Saint George but he was not stopping there. Dean had his sights on the World Championship Ironman in Kona Hawaii, the most elite of the iron man competitions and something that had been a dream of his for a long time. Dean was in the final round of the Kona Inspired Competition when he was honored at Rio Tinto stadium; the winner of the competition gains entry into the Kona Ironman. With the help of votes by RSL fans Dean has since won the competition and will be going to Kona in October!
